Photography

As I am approaching to teach an intro to media techniques in communication, I wanted to address what photography means to me, at least part of what it means to me.

Photography in brief is the process of forcing oneself to face his/her EGO, his/her inner self that is kept in the dark, in a deep well. The camera becomes nonetheless than the channel through which your secrets are revealed to the public. Photography is personal and powerful, and fearful. So here I am facing my fears, my hidden secrets, baring all I have got.

  1. It’s said that every portrait is a picture of two people – the subject and the photographer.

The study of a portfolio of work shows the photographers view of themselves in the their choice of subject matter and how they relate to the world around them. This statement is particularly true of photographers like me who view making pictures as a form of art, and not a mechanical recording process.

    Thanks for an interesting post.

    1. I agree so much with your statement. I feel photographers are struggling against their own personas every time they feel the need to capture, in a certain way like a serial killer needs to kill to appease his/her demon. πŸ˜‰
